An Accra High Court has thrown out a defamation case brought before it against the Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong by CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), Senyo Hosi.
Lawyers for Mr. Agyapong prayed the court to throw out the case since Mr. Hosi was not pursuing the matter.
Mr.Senyo Hosi had been accused by the MP of offering a million-dollar to bribe the then CEO of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company(BOST), Mr.Alfred Obeng to reverse the sale of contaminated fuel by BOST to two companies.
Mr.Hosi asked the court in a suit filed in July 2017, to award a compensation of ¢5 million and ¢3 million against Kennedy Agyapong and Kencity Media, respectively.
There was much discussion in the media circles on the sale of the said 5 million liters of off-spec fuel. This even forced Hon. Boakye Agyarko, the then Energy Minister to set up a committee to investigate the circumstances.
However, on Monday, July 12, 2021, when the case was called, the lawyers for Mr.Agyapong impressed upon the court to dismiss the case arguing that Mr.Hosi seems not interested in pursuing the matter.
