Police arrest two suspected robbers at Nungua

Personnel from the Nungua District Police Command have arrested two suspected robbers.

The suspects, Kojo Mintah and Daniel Adumako were arrested on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, by the police with assistance from a mobile money vendor who was the victim of the attempted robbery.

According to a police report, the suspects entered the victim’s shop in the Nungua Cocoa Beach area and snatched her handbag containing a cash sum of GHS1,298.

The report further indicated that the suspects quickly mounted a waiting motorbike in an attempt to escape but were crushed by a Nissan taxi cab who witnessed the attack.

Suspect Kojo Mintah sustained a fractured left leg whilst suspect Daniel Adumako sustained severe bruises, but both are receiving treatment at the police hospital.

In a related development, the Accra Regional Police Command also arrested 52 suspected criminals in a special operation within its jurisdiction, as part of efforts to stop violent crimes ahead of the Easter holidays on Thursday, April 1, 2021.

It also impounded 44 motorbikes during the swoop.

The operation which began with the East Legon District on Wednesday led to the arrest of 31 motorbike users for various offences.

This included riding without a license, without a roadworthy certificate, and without insurance.
