Some residents of Jerusalem Town near Kojokrom in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis have beaten a young man believed to be in his 20s over suspicions that he is a thief.
The victim, identified only as Uncle, is a resident of Nkansah Park, a suburb of Jerusalem Town.
Information reported by 3News indicates that the suspected thief stole a car battery and an undisclosed amount of money from a friend together with an unidentified friend.
Residents who spotted them subsequently raised an alarm triggering the assault by the townsfolk. His friend managed to bolt before the assault started. Uncle was left in a pool of blood along a footpath to the community.
Meanwhile, the Assemblymember for Nketsiakrom Electoral Area, Ebenezer Essiam has bemoaned the increasing incidents of robbery in the area. He had been able to summon the family members of the victim who rushed the victim to the hospital.
Mr. Essiam further noted that efforts are still underway with the Assembly’s council to determine a lasting solution to the robberies in the area.
