Police in the Ashanti Region has picked up two persons in connection with the death of the 16-year-old boy who passed away after a stray bullet hit him during the Eid celebrations in Aboabo Number Two, a suburb of the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The two, owners of a boutique located near the area the incident took place are currently assisting the police with their investigations, according to Accra-based CitiNews.
Meanwhile, the mother of the deceased has said that she believes that the perpetrators of the crime will soon be exposed.
The deceased, Abdul-Gafar Kassim was struck by stray bullets from gunshots fired by some youths of the town who fired warning shots with the guns they brandished during Tuesday’s festivities.
He was rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital where he was later confirmed dead and buried immediately, consistent with Islamic practice.
A second who sustained gunshot wounds is currently on admission at the same hospital while police investigations continue.
“My prayer is that the perpetrator of this act is found and be made to face the law. The person who committed this act knows very well it is a crime that is why he ran away. I know that person has gone into hiding, but I have the firm belief that God will expose him.”
“If that person is found, I am sure he will be asked why he killed my son, and if he has been contracted to do so, all that will be known. There is no way I will forget about my son. His memories will remain with me forever,” Kassim’s mother told the media.
