The Electoral Commission chairperson has given her account of events leading to the declaration of Akufo-Addo as the validly elected president of the 7th December 2020 presidential election.

Mrs Jean Mensa denies padding votes in favour of the New Patriotic Party candidate in that elections and invites the Judges of the Supreme Court to reject the petition filed by John Dramani Mahama, a former president of Ghana.

The 1st Respondent’s witness statement is attached for easy reference.

Mr Mahama is currently in court challenging the outcome of January 7, 2020, Presidential Elections results as declared by the Electoral Commission.
He contends that neither him nor President Akufo-Addo, who was declared the winner in that elections, had enough votes to be announced the winner as stipulated by the constitution.

The President’s predecessor wants an annulment of that verdict and in its place, another round of election organised between himself and the president.
