Cantonment police foils attempted smuggle of a firearm, ammunition into cells

A police officer on duty has foiled the attempted smuggling of firearms and ammunition into the Cantonment police cells by a lady.

The Police command recounts that a 23-year-old lady with a Nigerian accent came to the charge office with packs of Papaye fast food to be served on a remand prisoner in the cells on Sunday, July 11, 2021, around 4: 45 pm.

A careful inspection by the officer on duty revealed a locally manufactured pistol with one AA cartridge in one of the food packs.

The lady in question had managed to flee from the station according to the police.

Efforts are however underway by the Police Service to arrest the lady in question for interrogation and possible actions.
